What an incredible year it has been! We’re thrilled that we’ve surpassed the amazing $1,000,000 milestone in money raised during the Sunshine Poker Tournament in February 2025. We also hosted charity tournaments for the Hellenic Centre of Ottawa in May and the Ottawa Cancer Foundation in June.

Established in 2010 to celebrate the memory of our cherished "Sunshine", we take great pride in the community support that has allowed us to host Ottawa's largest charity poker tournament. We cover all the costs in order to be 100% efficient. Our family group of volunteers has helped various causes and over $400,000 has been awarded to players! Our primary beneficiary is the Ottawa Hospital but we've made contributions to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Ottawa Cancer Foundation, helped build a school in Haiti, provided books and supplies to children in Lebanon and helped to start farms in Africa; Truly a global impact. Special thanks to the Ottawa Hospital for honouring our foundation with the dedication of the Najah Ayoub Patient Consultation Room and announcing the dedication of a patient room in the new Civic campus.

From an early age – watching and collaborating with his dad at Gabriel Pizza, George learned and appreciated the commitment to his community. It's something he values tremendously and has continually carried with him. Everyone that knows him can attest that he has engrained that philosophy in both his personal life and at the Gabriel Pizza group of companies. Second to this community, is his love for sports. Fight for the Cure represents his drive for success, his desire to support the fight against cancer, and his deep love for his family and friends that have been touched by the disease. George's personal and professional family have battled cancer. As he watched people close to him fight against this disease, he decided to put on the gloves to battle cancer in his own way. Their resilience inspire his resolve to support and be part of Fight for the Cure. George says "I am excited to get in the ring and raise funds for the Ottawa Cancer Foundation. I encourage this community to support this amazing event and invite others to spiritually get-in-the-ring with me. Together, we can make a difference while being part of this incredible event."
